Meet Stanley & Kimanh
The Home Co. was on our radar for almost a year before we started our renovation with them. We had been attending a lot of open houses in the East Bay and kept coming across their amazing homes. We admired their work and was happy to learn they offered both realtor and renovation project management services. When it came time for us to finally start the home buying process, it was a no brainer. We worked with their team to find a house and couldn’t have been happier with their responsiveness and their commitment to helping us find the perfect home. Working with their team on the renovation was also a great experience. They helped to take away a lot of the stress that normally comes with a major remodel. They supported us all along the way and the result is exactly what we always wanted.

Where: Walnut Creek, CA

Timeline: Approximately 3 Months

Budget: $100,000 - $125,000

Stanley & Kimanh reached out to The Home Co. to assist them with finding their first home. Having studied and followed the real estate market for sometime, these savvy home buyers had realistic expectations about what they could afford and in what areas they could afford it. Problem was, they also had a fantastic modern design aesthetic and didn’t want to settle for dated decor. This conspiring couple hatched a plan; to buy a home with hidden potential and renovate it before moving in to stretch their dollars further than buying a home that was already updated. The Home Co.’s real estate and design teams worked hand-in-hand and the results are happy clients who can show off their new home and clean-lined kitchen.

The Home Co.: What is your favorite aspect of the final design?

S & K: The waterfall island and the open layout are our favorite aspects of our remodel. Our initial closed off space now feels much more welcoming.

The Home Co.: What was the best part of the renovation process?

S & K: We really enjoyed being part of the overall process and watching the space change day to day. I personally have a good time selecting all the finishes.

The Home Co.: What was the biggest challenge with the project?

S & K: The overall process was mostly smooth with the Home Co. team and our general contractor taking care of most of the issues. The biggest challenge we had was due to some quality of work issues which were sorted out by the team once identified.

The Home Co.: What advice would you offer to would-be renovators?

S & K: Have a solid idea of what you want, but also be flexible. Things rarely work out exactly the way you want them to.

The Home Co.: Anything else you'd like to share?

S & K: Thanks for being such amazing partners on our renovation journey.

A home renovation will make your home more comfortable, more beautiful, and will increase its value with the right improvements. The financial investment is the first thing most clients consider when embarking on this journey, but they frequently overlook the investment of time, energy, and oftentimes, emotions. Every detail in the plan needs to be carefully thought through - one seemingly simple change can affect many other decisions. There are numerous finish choices that require careful consideration and selection. The Home Co. interior design and project facilitation team eases the burden of this investment through dedicated guidance based on your style, functional needs, and budget.  We provide expert recommendations, but ultimately the owner makes the final decision - it’s your home and we want you to fall in love with it.

When asked about the highs and lows of design and renovation, we like to defer to our wonderful clients who provides a true reflection from the eyes of a homeowner.
